Cardiologist, Dr Alexander (Sandy) Black was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as a specialist Cardiologist in 1985. He has trained in general and interventional cardiology in Australia, the United States, and Europe, and lectured, practiced and taught in China.

He is skilled in clinical cardiology, coronary and structural interventional procedures, pacemaker and device implantation (including implantable defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronisation for heart failure). He has over 30 years experience in the interpretation of cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography).

Dr Black commenced specialist practice in Australia as the Assistant Director of Cardiology at the prestigious Royal Melbourne Hospital, before moving to Geelong to set up Cardiac Services at The Geelong Hospital, prior to heading the Department for over 20 years.
